Your Setup

Onboarding: setting up your program

A walkthrough of the short setup that personalizes your program — goal, situation, measurements, and safety questions.

What onboarding covers

Onboarding is a short, guided setup that personalizes your program. The current steps, in order, are:

  1. 1

    Your goal

What brings you to Prediabetes.life? This sets the emphasis of your starting track.

  2. 2

    Your situation

Which best describes where you are right now — used to set a realistic starting point.

  3. 3

    Glucose tracking

How are you currently monitoring your glucose, if at all. This is about your current habits, not a diagnosis.

  4. 4

    Your devices

Whether you use any fitness wearables today, so the app knows what kind of activity data you might want to log.

  5. 5

    Your measurements

Height, weight, and waist measurement — these set your 5% and 7% weight goals where a weight goal is appropriate for you.

  6. 6

    Risk factors & safety check

A few quick questions that personalize your risk-factor summary and keep the program safe for you — see the Safety Questions guide for details.

  7. 7

    Reminders (optional)

Pick how often, if at all, you’d like reminders. You can skip this.

  8. 8

    Privacy & data

A quick confirmation that your data stays private, ahead of the separate health-data consent step.

Step 1 of 9: Your goal.

Review: your risk-factor summary and weight goal

At the end of onboarding, a review screen summarizes your answers as a risk-factor summary — a plain-language recap, not a diagnosis.

Where a weight-loss goal is appropriate for your profile, the review also shows your 5% primary and 7% stretch weight targets, calculated from your starting measurements — these are the targets used in proven prevention programs.

Step 9 of 9: review screen with 5% and 7% weight targets.

Why don’t I have a weight goal?

Not every profile gets an automatic 5%/7% weight-loss goal, and that’s expected, not an error — a weight-loss goal isn’t medically appropriate for everyone (for example, some healthy-weight profiles). If yours doesn’t include one, you can still use activity and eating-pattern support fully; you can also log weight for your own reference without a numeric target attached.

If your safety answers suggested follow-up with a healthcare professional (for example, a diabetes-range lab value or “Not sure” to a diagnosis question), that follow-up suggestion is separate from the weight-goal question — one doesn’t imply the other, and neither means the app diagnosed you with anything.

Completing setup

A completion screen confirms setup is done and takes you to Today.

Frequently asked

Can I change my answers after onboarding?
Yes — Settings lets you update your unit preference, reset your goal, and manage your consents after onboarding. Some onboarding answers (like your starting measurements) are used to calculate goals once; use Settings to reset your goal from today’s weight if your situation has changed.
Why don’t I have a 5%/7% weight goal?
A weight-loss goal isn’t appropriate for every profile — this is expected for some starting situations, not an error. Activity and eating-pattern support remain fully usable either way.
